Anker has launched the 553 USB-C Docking Station (KWM Switch) in the EU; the device arrived in the US earlier this year. The gadget lets you connect a laptop and PC desktop, with an accompanying KWM switch to toggle between devices. Other ports on the dock, such as USB-A and USB-C, allow peripherals to be shared by the computers.
The Anker 553 USB-C Docking Station (KVM Switch) has arrived in the EU following its recent launch in the US. Ports on the device include USB-C 65W to connect to a laptop and USB-C, DP-IN and HDMI-IN to connect to a PC Desktop. The gadget allows you to share up to five peripheral devices via 480 Mbps USB 2.0, two 5 Gbps USB-A, 5 Gbps 20W USB-C PD and 3.5 mm AUX ports.
The 553 USB-C Docking Station also has DP-OUT and HDMI-OUT ports to connect one or two monitors with resolutions up to 4K@60Hz. An accompanying magnetic KVM switch lets you quickly toggle between connected computers while sharing keyboards, video monitors and mice. The device is powered via DC-IN and comes with a 100W power adapter and a 3.2 ft (~1 m) USB-C cable. The gadget measures 9.84 x 6.18 x 3.01-in (~250 x 157 x 76 mm) and is compatible with Windows 10/11 and macOS 12 and above devices.
You can buy the Anker 553 USB-C Docking Station via Amazon in EU countries such as Germany for €229.99. The gadget is currently on sale in the US for US$229.49, a 15% saving on the typical retail price of US$269.99. It remains unclear when the device could reach other markets. Anker also recently launched the 554 USB-C Docking Station (KVM Switch), a similar device suitable for two laptops rather than one laptop and one desktop.
